Nick Faye’s got a new CD coming out!

So check back here soon! It's coming out this Thursday and it's real good.

New Johnny Amore video!

Hey everyone! Check out the new Johnny Amore video, Dust. You can purchase his album through our website. Probably not so much in person anymore unless you live in Ottawa, because that's where Mr. Amore lives now.

Note the sweet cameo from yours truly.

What’s up with you?

How are you doing? Good? Things are going well?

Good to hear.

Honestly, there's not much going on with UPR right now. I'm pretty busy being a teacher and taking classes, so none of my bands are really doing much at the moment. And the other artists on here are also pretty busy doing their things.

But hey! Stuff's still for sale, so check it out.

And have a good Christmas, too!

Gravity Kills Children

Urban Planning Records is proud to present the first EP from Gravity Kills Children, a collaboration between singer/songwriter Em Taylor (of that bustling metropolis, Consul, Saskatchewan) and Architects and Builders. The EP's called "Clever Alice" and it's four songs of shoegazer-inspired indie rock married to Taylor's lyrics and deep voice. Recorded over the course of two days in May of 2010, the album veers between straight-up rock numbers like "It's All a Blur" and "Going to Drown," as well as spookier material, like the closer "Little Girl."

New artist: Gravity Kills Children

Urban Planning Records is proud to present the first EP from Gravity Kills Children, a collaboration between singer/songwriter Em Taylor (of that bustling metropolis, Consul, Saskatchewan) and Architects and Builders. The EP's called "Clever Alice" and it's four songs of shoegazer-inspired indie rock married to Taylor's lyrics and deep voice. Recorded over the course of two days in May of 2010, the album veers between straight-up rock numbers like "It's All a Blur" and "Going to Drown," as well as spookier material, like the closer "Little Girl." The album is available for sale today. You can listen to the entire album at http://gravitykillschildren.bandcamp.com, or buy the album from the Store (the link is just on the right hand side).

Em Taylor also designed the wicked-rad t-shirts for Architects and Builders, which you can also order online through the Store.

Shirts! Ink Road! Two things!

Wow! It's like Christmastime at Urban Planning Records! (not really. Christmastime is WAY MORE AWESOME.) Anyways, if you click that there Store tab on the left hand side of this screen, you'll notice that we have two new things for sale. The first is Ink Road's second EP, Happy Again, which you can order a physical copy of now, or head to their Bandcamp and do a download thing. The second thing for sale is Architects and Builders t-shirts! Say what? Yes, you heard that correctly. T-shirts. Designed by one Em Taylor, they depict the ancient and ongoing struggle between robots and dinosaurs. They're only $20, and they look fantastic (seriously, if I wasn't already in that band I'd wear mine everyday.) So go to the store and check it out!

New Ink Road album!

Hey guys! There's a new album from Ink Road that you can listen to/download here, off of their bandcamp. The physical copies will go on sale on the website tomorrow, and you can buy them at any Ink Road show, including one this Friday at The Gaslight Saloon. Rad!

August 9, 2010

Hi friendos! Lots of updates for you.

First of all, thanks so, so much to everyone who came out to the Polymaths' last show. We're bummed that it had to end, but we're all doing OK. As a sort of thank you, we've put Home Again on bandcamp for free, so if you don't have a copy yet, head to the store and click on the bandcamp logo to download it.

Secondly, Ink Road have a new EP coming out! Soon! It's coming out on August 25th, where you can conveniently see them play at the Club with The Birthday Cakes.

Finally, we're going to have a new item for sale soon – Architects and Builders t-shirts! Let me just say that they're rad as all hell, and you can either buy them in person or online in the next few days. Purple shirts for the win!

- Matthew.

Polymaths’ Last Stand

First off – holy shit, that poster.

Secondly, this Thursday is Polymaths' last show ever. We're all heading our separate ways – Craig's off to Victoria for grad school, I'm starting to become a full-time teacher, Jenn's also taking grad school, Patrick's off in Ottawa taking grad school. Basically, I'm saying that it's grad school's fault. No matter! We're going to rock it one last time down at O'Hanlons, along with up-and-coming Regina band loveACT, so you can check them out too! We'll have free EPs, LPs and T-shirts too, and the show itself is free. Basically, we just keep on giving and giving. So! See you there?
